The Jawaharlal Nehru College Pasighat the premier institute of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh established on 3rd July 1964. In its glorious existence of over past 48 years, it has been the alma mater of almost all the great personalities of Arunachal Pradesh. Many alumni of the college have adorned significant positions in its various fields all over state.
With the passage of time, everything has changed so quickly the human needs, way of living or living standard, educational system, the demands of human resources in modern societies etc. all these factors create lots of pressure on the academic activities of the college. In this regards, it is being realised by the former students of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat spread all over the country or aboard, engaged in several professions and occupations in the overall development of the educational system in general and higher education in particular. Therefore, a need to bring Alumni of JNC, under one umbrella and on a common platform in order to utilised their energy and expertise for the developmental activities of the society at large and JNC in particular. It is the duty of all responsible people of our state to come together, especially the alumni of the college from every corner of the society for its sustenance and growth. It is the proud product of the college, who can be the best judges to assess the assets and shortcoming of the institution and suggest ways and means to meet the end. This spirit and enthusiasm for the betterment of their alma mater shall certainly give impetus to the sound and healthy programme of the college.
With this background, by the initiatives of Dr. B.K. Nath, the then Principal of J.N. College Pasighat, proposed to organised a first ever meeting of association of all the ex-students of the college under the name of JNCAA. Subsequently, an ad-hoc committee of prominent alumnus of the college, available at Pasighat has been constituted for this purpose. Proposed meeting of ad-hoc committee for formation of Alumni association of college was finally convened on 4th March 2006 at J.N.C Auditorium, lower campus by the organising committee. Under the chairmanship of Sri. T. Jerang, first ever Executive body of the JAWAHARLAL NEHRU COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PASIGHAT was formed with Sri Gegong Apang as President, Sri. Chowna Mein as Vice President; Prof. Tamo Mibang as secretary. The Ad-hoc committee after thorough discussion also adopted the Bye laws and its main aims and objectives of the JNCAA. Unfortunately, this historic endeavour for the formation of JNC Alumni Association proved to be ephemeral or remains non-functional for almost six years.
After a gap of six years a meeting was convened on 9th December 2012 by Sri T. Talom, Principal JNC, Pasighat in his office chamber regarding the revival of JNCAA.
